Women’s Nordic Place 2nd On Day One at Jackson Touring

JACKSON, NH - The University of Maine at Farmington women's nordic team opened up their 2025 USCSA Mansfield Division season with a 2nd place finish at the White Mountain Classic hosted at the Jackson Touring Federation. Today's race was a 13km classic and tomorrow's race will be a 10km freestyle.

The Beaverse were led by junior standout Ayla Bodach-Turner (East Montpelier, Vermont) who placed 4th overall out of the USCSA competitors. Sophomore Cora Treiss (Berlin, NH) made great strides from last season, finishing 6th overall, the best finish of her young career. First-year Kelsey McCrum (Greenbush, Maine) had strong showing in her first USCSA appearance, racing to a 17th place finish. Today's race also marked her first ever 13km competition.

Head Coach Buzz Bean states "We've had great skiing at the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center, Titcomb and Quarry road. The team is really coming together under the leadership of our captain, Ayla. She skied an easy race today as she flys out of Boston this evening to jump into a very deep pond in the World University Games in Torino, Italy. Cora Show that ski races are won in the summer and the work she put in is really paying off. Kelsey has made tremendous technical and conditioning improvements and is improving very quickly."
