Box Score FARMINGTON, Maine -- Eight different players scored a goal as Bates College rolled past the University of Maine at Farmington 9-0 in non-conference women's soccer action this afternoon at Prescott Field.
The Beavers slipped to 4-7-3 and are scheduled to host the University of Maine at Fort Kent Saturday at 2 p.m. The Bobcats improved to 3-4-2 with a trip to Connecticut College Saturday at 11 a.m.
Kara Stefanik (Needham, Mass.) tallied two goals and an assist to lead Bates as the Bobcats scored five times in the opening half en route to the 9-0 rout. Abby Alexander (Harvard, Mass.), Jaimie Cappucci (Saugus, Mass.), Lauren Dobish (Chambersburg, Pa.), Sam Rose (Toronto, Ontario), Amanda Sirianni (Holliston, Mass.), Courtney Talcott (Millbury, Mass.) and Tina Tobin (Lowell, Mass.) each added a goal in the win.
Beth Lebel (Lewiston, Maine) and Crystal Johnson (Cornville, Maine) split netminding duties for UMF with Lebel making four stops and Johnson five. The Beavers were outshot 33-8 in the match.
Annie Burns (Topsfield, Mass.) worked the first 51:49 in between the pipes for Bates with four saves. Anabel Schmelz (Monmouth Beach, N.J.) finished out the shutout with one save over the final 38:11.
