Farmington Surrenders Pair of Early Goals, Fall at Wellesley

WELLESLEY, Massachusetts – The University of Maine at Farmington women's soccer team surrendered a pair of early goals and was unable to recover, falling 4-0 to Wellesley College on Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened

Wellesley struck in the sixth minute when Isabella Tolosa fired a shot into the lower right corner of the net. Just three and a half minutes later, Tolosa doubled the lead with her second goal of the match.

The Blue extended their advantage in the 18th minute after being awarded a penalty kick. Elena Garcia converted from the spot, slipping her attempt past UMF senior goalkeeper Paige Gonya (Sabattus, Maine) to make it 3-0.

Gonya was outstanding throughout, tying her career high with 15 saves, a mark she first set in 2022, and keeping Wellesley off the board until the 82nd minute, when Alisha Faheem added an unassisted tally to close the scoring.

Offensively, Farmington was limited to just two total shots and one on target.
