The Beavers controlled play from the opening whistle, generating early pressure and outshooting the Badgers 7–4 in the first half. That energy translated to the scoreboard as UMF found the net twice before halftime.

The Badgers were able to respond with a goal in the 24th minute by Logan Ingalls. With less than a minute left of the first half, the Beavers were able to capitalize on a corner kick, JJ Greenlaw (Farmington, Maine) was able to find the back of the net making it 3-1 going into halftime.

The Badgers answered with their own surge after the half, posting 11 second-half shots and testing UMF with a late push. Dylan Gagnon (Hudson, N.H.) finished with four second-half saves and six total. Badgers goalie Lucas Gerhing finished with nine saves. The Badgers earned a narrow 9–6 edge in corner kicks but could not convert on restarts as the Beaver back line managed the saves.

In the 72nd minute Annimer Ibrahim (Lewiston, Maine) fired a shot past Johnson goalkeeper to bring the Beavers to a 4-1 lead. The Beavers weren't stepping off the gas, with shots from Fred Coit (Blue Hill, Maine) and Owen Spera the Beavers wanted to close out the second half like they did the first half.
