BRIDGTON, Maine — The University of Maine at Farmington women's alpine ski team placed second overall this afternoon in a Reynolds Division giant slalom event at Pleasant Mountain. The top-three finishers for the Beavers combined for a time of 4:43.67, just over a second behind Saint Joseph's College of Maine, who claimed first place.
After today's race, the Reynolds Division honored the senior skiers for their outstanding careers and the impact they've had on their teams, universities, and the Reynolds Division. For the Beavers, Tegan Andrew (Goffstown, N.H.), Grace Mahmood (Oxford, Conn.), and Fallon Smith (Nelson, N.H.) were recognized for their four years of commitment to UMF and alpine skiing.
Top Beaver Skiers:
Junior Hokulani Caroselli (Temple, Maine) led the Beavers for the third time this season and earned her third medal of the early season. Caroselli placed second overall with a combined time of 1:32.46. She completed her first run in 45.58 seconds and her second in 46.88 seconds. Malin Asunic-Bingham of New England College placed first overall with a time of 1:29.50.
Mahmood had her best finish of the season, placing 5th overall. Mahmood finished her two runs with a combined time of 1:34.61, just 0.17 seconds behind Madelyn Zordan of Saint Joseph's College of Maine, who took 4th. Mahmood's first run was 46.60 seconds, and her second run was 48.01 seconds.
Sophomore Elanore Robb (Woodbury, Minn.) was the third Beaver to contribute to the team's total. Robb finished with a time of 1:36.60, completing her first run in 48.55 seconds and her second in 48.05 seconds.
Smith placed just outside the top-10, finishing 12th overall with a time of 1:42.08. Andrew raced to a time of 1:55.42, placing 27th overall.
