BEND, Oregon – The University of Maine at Farmington women's alpine team opened their week at the USCSA National Championships on Tuesday with the Giant Slalom National Championship at Mt. Bachelor. The top three Beaver finishers combined for a time of 7:08.96 to place 13th overall in the event.
Individually, the Beavers were led by sophomore standout
Elanore Robb (Woodbury, Minn.), who placed 30th overall, finishing her two runs with a combined time of 2:17.00. Robb was in 36th place after her first run, finishing it with a time of 1:08.73. Her second run was clocked at 1:08.27, the 29th fastest time of any skier.
Junior
Hokulani Caroselli (Temple, Maine) had a pair of strong runs for the Beavers, finishing her first run in 1:11.13 and her second in 1:12.68 to finish with a total time of 2:23.81, earning 50th place in a loaded field that included over 125 athletes.
First-year
Rosie St. Cyr (Pownal, Maine) was the third Beaver to contribute to the team's overall score, finishing her two runs with a total time of 2:28.15, earning 60th place overall. St. Cyr finished her first run in 1:12.32, before completing her second run in 1:15.83.
Mahmood was less than two seconds behind St. Cyr, placing 69th overall with a two-run time of 2:29.97. Mahmood finished her two runs with almost identical times, completing the first run in 1:14.95 and the second in 1:15.02. As the fourth Beaver across the finish line, Mahmood did not contribute to the team's overall placement.
Senior
Fallon Smith (Nelson, N.H.) earned 91st place after finishing her pair of runs with a time of 2:47.62. Smith completed her first run in 1:22.63 and her second in 1:24.99. Smith also did not factor into the team's overall finish.
Rocky Mountain College earned the Giant Slalom National Championship crown as their top-three skiers combined for a time of 6:21.11.
