Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Beavers Blow Past Terriers

FARMINGTON, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington women's soccer saw their offense breakout in a big way, tallying seven goals in a 7-0 blowout victory over Thomas College on Saturday afternoon at Leib Field.

The Records:

With the win, the Beavers jumped to 4-5-2 overall with a 2-2-2 record in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play. Thomas dropped to 1-5-1 with a 1-4-1 record in NAC play following the loss.

How it Happened:

Coming off the bench, as she has for much of the season, Natalie Tracy (Oakland, Maine) made her presence felt within minutes of entering the game. Three minutes coming on, Tracy took a pass from Abby Lash (Waldoboro, Maine) and blasted a left-footed shot into the back of the net to give Farmington a 1-0 lead in the 19th minute.

Lash continued to make plays for her teammates, this time finding Grace Mahmood (Oxford, Conn.) with a beautiful cross to the back post that Mahmood was able to settle and power a shot into the back of the net to make it a 2-0 game with just under three minutes to play in the opening half.

Farmington extended their lead to 3-0 just 22 seconds later as Lash sent a ball past the Terriers back line for Tracy. Tracy carried the ball into the penalty area where a Terrier defender had caught up and poked the ball away from Tracy. Unfortunately for Thomas, the ball was poked away from Tracy but past their goalkeeper Emilee Ireland and into the back of the net.

Leading 3-0 heading into the 2nd half, Lash scored a goal of her own in the 68th minute to make it a 4-0 game. Lash blasted a right footed shot from 20 yards out into the upper right corner off a feed from Jenna Lee.

Mahmood scored her 2nd goal of the game just eight minutes later as quick passing from Lash to Tracy and then over to a wide open Mahmood extended the Beavers lead to 5-0.

Lash scored her 2nd goal just 30 seconds later as the Beavers continued to pour it on, giving them a six goal advantage.

Just minutes later, sophomore Hannah Milliken (Greene, Maine) made a beautiful pass to Tracy who fired a shot past Ireland to make it a seven goal game.

Team Stats:

The Beavers controlled the play throughout the game and held large advantages in shots (28-5), shots on goal (21-2), and corner kicks (6-1).

The Goalkeepers:

Junior goalkeeper Paige Gonya (Sabattus, Maine) made two saves to record her 3rd shutout of the season. Ireland made 14 saves in goal for the Terriers.
