Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Beavers Fall to Cougars on the Road

WORCESTER, Massachusetts - The University of Maine at Farmington women's soccer team were unable to get their offense going on Saturday afternoon, falling 3-0 on the road in a non-conference battle against Clark University. The Cougars improved to 2-0 on the young season after beating Nichols on Friday.

Neither team was able to get any offense going early as neither team recorded a shot on target for the first 21 minutes of play. The Cougars were able to crack the scoreboard in the 27th minute when Cassidy Hubbard headed home a cross off the foot of Sadie Cohen to give Clark a 1-0 lead.

The Cougars' pressure continued to increase over the remainder of the half, hitting the post and the crossbar on separate occasions. Despite the pressure the Beavers only trailed 1-0 entering the 2nd half.

However, less than two minutes into the 2nd half, Jamie Stern sent a ball into the box that found Isabella Ramirez who found the back of the net to make it a 2-0 game.

Jayme Brown added a goal nine minutes later off a feed from Ramirez, extending the Cougars lead to three.

The Beavers could not get any sustained pressure throughout the game, failing to register a shot on goal. Their best opportunity came off a shot from first-year Rita Benoit (Hallowell, Maine), but the shot went wide.

Gonya was solid in net for the Beavers, registering seven saves on the afternoon.

The Cougars held advantages in shots (21-2) and corner kicks (9-0).
