GORHAM, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington women's soccer team traveled to Gorham this afternoon to take on the University of Southern Maine in a non-conference contest. The Huskies controlled a majority of the play en route to a 6-0 victory over the Beavers.
The Huskies cracked the scoreboard early when RIley Reitchel found the back of the net in the 2nd minute. Reitchel carried the ball down the right side of the field before launching a shot into the far corner of the net past the outstretched arms of sophomore goalkeeper Paige Gonya (Sabattus, Maine).
The Huskies continued their offensive attack, adding goals in 5th and 8th minutes to extend their lead to 3-0. Catriona Gould got past the Beavers backline to tally her 1st goal. Her 2nd goal came when she received a thru ball from Eliza Roy and beat Gonya to extend the Huskies lead.
Julia McKenna kept the Huskies going, tacking on a goal of her own in the 18th minute on a pass from Gould,. McKenna's goal helped the Huskies take a 4-0 lead into halftime.
The Huskies were able to tack on a pair of goals in the 69th and 87th minute. Reitchel picked up the goal in the 69th minute, finding the far post after gathering the ball on the right side of the box. McKenna found the back of the goal for the 2nd time off a corner kick to finish of the scoring.
The Beavers were unable to sustain pressure throughout the contest as the Huskies held advantages in shots (35-3), shots on goal (21-1), and corner kicks (11-1).
Gonya and Emilie Crocker (Edgecomb, Maine) combined to make 15 saves in goal for the Beavers.
The Huskies improve to a perfect 9-0-1 on the season while the Beavers record now sits at 3-6-1.

The Beavers will be back in action on Tuesday afternoon when they host Thomas College in a North Atlantic Conference battle at 3:30 PM.
