Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Beavers Score Early But Fall to Lynx

FARMINGTON, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington women's soccer team fell 3-1 at home to Lesley University in a non-conference contest at Leib Field. The loss for the Beavers is their first since September 20th at Colby College. The Beavers drop to 7-6-2. The Lynx are now 7-7 on the season.

The Beavers got the scoring started early in the first half when Audrey Fletcher (Monmouth, Maine) found the back of the net. Freshman goalkeeper Paige Gonya (Sabattus, Maine) punted a bomb over the heads of the Lynx defenders. A Lynx defender tried to head the ball out of the air, mishit it, sending Fletcher in on goal by herself. Fletcher would not spoil the opportunity as she slid a shot past Audrey Calhoun (Chapel Hill, N.C.) to give the Beavers an early 1-0 lead.

The score would remain 1-0 into the second half as the Lynx and the Beavers would combine for four shots in the first half. In the second half the Lynx would increase their pressure and create more opportunities as they rattled off 15 shots in the second half. Lesley would tied the game just four and a half minutes into the second half when Chase Livesey (Saint Petersburg, Florida) sent across to the back post where Abby Kalou (Chicago, Ill.) volleyed it out the year past Gonya.

The Lynx would take the lead in the 61st minute. Haile Carillo-Hayes (Chatsworth, Calif.) dribbled into the right corner before ripping a cross into the box where Kylie Chagnon (Framingham, Mass.) headed it into the side netting.

Calli Masters (West Linn, Oregon) finished of the scoring when she scored off a shot that went over the head of Lily Souza (Wiscasset, Maine) who replaced Gonya in net.
