St. Cyr and Caroselli Each Podium at Black Mountain

RUMFORD, Maine - University of Maine at Farmington women's alpine standouts Rosie St. Cyr (Temple, Maine) and Hokulani Caroselli (Temple, Maine) each found their way onto the podium on Saturday in a Reynolds Division giant slalom event held at Black Mountain.

St. Cyr was the fastest skier on the course by over a full second en route to earning the gold medal. She finished with a cumulative time of 1:16.37, posting run times of 38.31 and 38.06 seconds, respectively. St. Cyr finished 1.36 seconds ahead of Avalyn Beaudin of Saint Joseph's College, who earned second overall.

Caroselli joined St. Cyr on the podium after posting a cumulative time of 1:18.12 across her two runs. She sat in eighth place after her first run of 40.05 seconds, then blazed down the mountain with a second-run time of 38.07 seconds to edge out Reese Burke of Saint Joseph's by half a second and secure her spot on the podium.

With St. Cyr and Caroselli as the only two skiers to compete, the team was forced to use a ghost time to earn a team score. Saturday's ghost time was 1:37.38, which combined with St. Cyr's and Caroselli's times totaled 4:11.87, earning the Beavers third overall. Saint Joseph's College placed first, with its top three times combining for 3:55.15.
