Johnson and Burr Compete at Farley Inter Regional

WILLIAMSTOWN, Massachusetts - University of Maine at Farmington senior Carrie Burr (Pittsfield, Maine) and junior Erica Johnson (Nobleboro, Maine) continued their quest for a bid into the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championships, competing in the Farley Inter Regional meet hosted by Williams College this weekend.

Burr competed in the heptathlon while Johnson competed in the 100 meters and the triple jump.

For Burr, she competed in just five of the seven events and did not factor into the events overall placing. The five events that she completed were the 100 meter hurdles, the high jump, shot put, 200 meters, and the long jump. She finished with time and distances as follows;

  • 100 meter hurdles: 16.86 seconds
  • High jump: 1.42 meters
  • Shot put: 9.25 meters
  • 200 meters: 26.62 seconds
  • Long jump: 4.56 meters

In a couple of loaded fields, Johnson finished 25th in the 100 meters and 15th in the triple jump. Johnson only raced in the preliminary round of the 100 meters, finishing with a time of 12.99 seconds in the event. She then reached 10.22 meters with her farthest triple jump attempt.

After this weekend's meet, Burr and Johnson are still working to qualify for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championships.
