FARMINGTON, Maine – The visiting Norwich University Cadets used an 11-0 run in the final three minutes of the third quarter to break a tie game, en route to a 66-50 victory over the University of Maine at Farmington on Friday evening at Dearborn Gymnasium, on day one of the UMF Tip-Off Classic.

Mayo also recorded three steals as the Beavers increased their defensive pressure.

However, Norwich responded with a 13-2 run to close out the third quarter. Jessica Zimmerman hit a three-pointer and a free throw line jumper, while Haley Brewster added a pair of buckets, helping the Cadets extend their lead to 11 heading into the final period.
The Beavers' shooting struggles continued into the fourth quarter, as they missed four of their first five attempts. Meanwhile, Norwich dominated the paint, building a 64-42 lead with 4:26 left to play. A three-pointer from Grace Dwyer (Manchester, Maine) and a layup from Dow cut the lead to 17 with 2:40 to play, but the Beavers couldn't recover, dropping their first game of the season.
