BANGOR, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington softball team dropped both ends of their doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at the hands of Husson University. The Beavers dropped both games by a score of 8-0.
Game One
The Eagles got on the board in the bottom of the 1st inning as Kenzie Dore wrapped and RBI single up the middle to score Olivia McCarty.
Teagan Blackie doubled the Eagles lead in the bottom of the 2nd inning when she drove in Jill
Bisson on an error by the Beavers.
Dore ripped a three run home run to deep right field in the bottom of the 3rd to help Husson open up a 5-0 lead. Katie Raymond ripped an RBI double to left field later in the inning to make it a 6-0 Eagles lead.
After Eagles starting pitcher Mckenna Smith pitched 3.1 no-hit innings, Maddie Pike ripped a single to right field to break up the no-hit bid.
The Eagles tacked on an insurance run in the bottom of the 5th on an RBI groundout from Lydia Rice. The game-ending run came in the bottom of the 6th inning when Angelina Fuccie came into score on a wild pitch.
Pike finished 1-2 in the game, recording the lone hit for the Beavers. Carleigh Schievink recorded the loss in the circle, pitching the first three innings giving up six runs but just three earned while striking out a pair of Eagles.
Dore led the way for the Eagles going 3-4 with four RBIs while Blackie when 2-3 with an RBI. Smith when all six innings for Husson giving up just one hit and a walk while striking out 10 to pick up her 11th win of the season.
Game Two
Bella Miller (Lewiston, Maine) led off the game with a walk, stole 2nd base with one out but Eagles starter Danielle Masterson worked out of trouble to leave MIller in scoring position.
The Eagles got their offenses started quickly in the bottom of the 1st. Raymond led off with a single to left center and then stole 2nd base. McCarty followed with a single of her own to give the Eagles 1st and 2nd with nobody out. Julia Gregoire came through clutch for Husson with a two-RBI double to left center to make it 2-0. Tori Exel followed with an RBI single, scoring Gregoire to help the Eagles open up a 3-0 lead early.
The Eagles tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the 4th inning on an RBI single from McCarty and another two-RBI double from Gregoire.
Tatyanna Biamby recorded an RBI single down the left field line to make it a 7-0 lead in the bottom of the 5th inning
Masterson went the first 5.1 innings without surrendering a hit before Kiley Merritt broke up the no-hit bid with a bunt single.
Dore ripped a double to left center in the bottom of the 6th inning to score Rice and help the Eagles walk off with the victory.

The Beavers will take on the Central Maine Community College Mustangs on Saturday afternoon in their 1st set of games at home this season. Game one's 1st pitch is scheduled for 1 PM.
