Box Score FARMINGTON, Maine -- The University of Maine at Farmington women's soccer team notched seven goals in the opening 20 minutes of play and never looked back on its way to a 14-4 win over Fisher College, Sunday afternoon at Leib Field.
Senior McKenna Brodeur scored three of the Beavers' goals in the scoring bonanza to start the contest, and tacked on an assist on Elena Guarino's goal in the 18th minute that gave UMaine-Farmington a 6-1 lead.
Brodeur's hat trick was the sixth of her UMaine-Farmington career.
Starters Audrey Fletcher and Morgan Thompson each charted two goals in the opening half, with Fletcher tacking on two assists and Thompson credited with one. Kiley Merritt came off the bench also tallied two goals and one assist in the opening frame, helping UMaine-Farmington take a 12-2 lead at the halftime break.
Emily Larochelle and Kate Mohlar each added single goals for the Beavers in the first half, while Kelly Wallace notched both of Fisher's first half goals.
The Beavers and the Falcons traded a pair of goals in the second half, with rookie Abby Lash recording her first collegiate score in the 62nd minute, and Haley Fletcher picking up her first goal of the season in the 66th minute. Wallace completed the hat trick for Fisher with a goal in the 71st minute, and Juliette Dominguez capped the scoring with the Falcons' fourth goal in the 76th minute.
The UMaine-Farmington goals by Guarino and Mohlar were also the first of their collegiate careers.
The Beavers outshot the Falcons, 32-14. Callie Hammer got the start in the UMaine-Farmington goal and had one save on her way to the win, while Lily Souza played all 45 minutes of the second half and charted three saves. Cheyenne McCall and Isabella Massengale combined to record nine saves for Fisher.
UMaine-Farmington women's soccer will head to Biddeford, Maine, on Wednesday, Oct. 6, to face the University of New England in a 7:00 p.m. contest.
