Box Score Farmington, Maine – UMaine Farmington's offense stepped up in the second half to beat Thomas College 1-0 on Prescott Field Saturday afternoon to open conference play.

The Beavers move to 3-4 on the year and 1-0 in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC), while the Terriers fall to 1-6 overall and 0-1 in the NAC.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Terriers started off with a lot of pressure taking three shots in the opening 10 minutes. Kelci Faulkingham had a good look from about 12 yards out, but missed just wide left.
About 10 minutes later, the Terriers had another good look off a penalty corner, but Kayleigh Fontaine made a defensive save.
The Terriers had four shots in the first half while Farmington had two.
In the second half, the Beavers took control and spend most of the half in the offensive zone. The Beavers took four shots to the Terriers two.
Emma Martineau scored the lone goal at the 46-minute mark with the assist going to Emmah Spahr to give the Beavers the 1-0 edge with about 25 minutes to play.
Kyla Sturtevant had another good look about 10 minutes later, but was called for a foul as the ball went into the back of the net. Carly Raymond had an attempt five minutes later that was thwarted by the Terriers.
With 10 minutes to go, Faulkingham took a shot from eight yards out, but Alyssa Arsenault was there to make the save and win the 1-0 shutout.
