Box Score FARMINGTON, Maine- Sophomore Ashley Gleason (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough) scored a hat trick on Saturday to lead University of Maine at Farmington (5-4-0, 3-2-0) women's soccer over Thomas College (1-8-0, 1-3-0) 4-1 in a North Atlantic Conference match-up.
Gleason would get things started scoring off a pass from Lydia Roy (Waterville, Maine/Waterville) in the 15th minute of the first half. The Beavers continued to pressure the Thomas goal throughout the first half. Hadlee Yescott (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough) scored in the 30th minute, her sixth goal of the year, giving the Beavers a 2-0 advantage at the break.
The Beavers continued to pressure the Terriers goal in the second half and Gleason capitalized. Gleason scored unassisted in the 60th minute and again five minutes later off an assist from Roy. It was Gleason's team leading ninth goal of the year.
Thomas got in the scoring column on a Kayla Bess goal with the assist from Cassie Contigiani in the 80th minute.
UMF dominated in shots (32-9) and won the corners battle (9-6).
Keeper Kiana Thompson (Industry, Maine/Mt.Blue) had three saves on the day to earn the victory. Thomas net minder Paige Leary made 18 saves to keep the Terriers in the contest.
The Beavers are now 5-1 over their last six games and outscoring the opponents 30-6.
UMaine-Farmington will travel to Bowdoin on Wednesday for a non-conference game.
