Paradis Takes Over Farmington Softball Program

FARMINGTON, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington Department of Athletics is pleased to announce the hiring of Olivia Paradis as the next head coach of the softball program. Paradis is a 2025 graduate of the University of Maine at Farmington, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education.

"We are thrilled to welcome Olivia back as part of our Athletics family and to have her take over at the helm of a program to which she dedicated five years as a student-athlete. Both during her time as an athlete and throughout the interview process, it was abundantly clear that she possesses a strong passion for the sport of softball and the University of Maine at Farmington community. She is motivated to make a positive impact and serve as a leader for our student-athletes. Our department and student-athletes are fortunate to have her, and I look forward to watching her lead our program to continued success," Farmington Director of Athletics Jamie Beaudoin said.

Awarded a COVID waiver that extended her playing career, Paradis was a five-year starter for the Beavers and served as a team captain for four seasons. Across her five-year career, Paradis played in 126 games, making 123 starts primarily at second base. She finished her career with a .279 batting average, collecting 95 hits, including 16 extra-base hits. A consistent contributor throughout her career, Paradis saved her best season for last, posting a career-best .362 batting average. She was named to the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) East Division First Team All-Conference and the Maine Collegiate Baseball & Softball Association (MCBSA) All-State Second Team for her efforts.

Currently, Paradis serves as the head coach of the 18U New England Elite softball team based in Gray, Maine. This role has provided her with valuable experience in player development, guiding student-athletes through the collegiate recruiting process, and fostering a strong team culture. Paradis has been a coach within the New England Elite softball program since November 2021.

Prior to her time with New England Elite, Paradis began her coaching career as a volunteer coach with the Southern Maine River Rats travel softball organization based in Saco, Maine.
Following her graduation from UMF in May 2025, Paradis returned to southern Maine and accepted a position with the Biddeford School Department as a fourth-grade general education teacher. After one year in the district, Paradis will return to Farmington to assume the role of head coach for the Beavers, continuing to pursue her passion for softball.

"I am honored to return to UMF and lead a program that has meant so much to me. A strong foundation has been established, and I am excited to continue building upon the recent successes of the program. The current roster has a great deal of talent and versatility, and I look forward to helping our student-athletes continue to grow while creating an environment that challenges, supports, and empowers each of them to reach their full potential," Paradis said.

Paradis will inherit a roster that returns five starting position players, as well as the entire pitching staff, from the team that earned the fourth seed in the 2026 NAC Tournament. Farmington has qualified for the conference playoffs in each of the past three seasons and has won at least one postseason game in each appearance.

Aside from her role on the softball field, Paradis is excited to re-immerse herself in everything UMF and the surrounding community have to offer.

"I am eager to build strong relationships throughout the UMF community, working closely with my colleagues in the department and with faculty to continue moving the program forward. My goal is to build a program that competes at a high level while also providing a meaningful and memorable experience for every student-athlete," Paradis added.

Paradis will assume her duties on August 15.
