Box Score FARMINGTON, Maine -- Lily Barry (Hermon, Maine) scored with 4:19 left in overtime to give the University of Maine at Farmington field hockey team a 1-0 victory over Thomas College in North Atlantic Conference action today at Prescott Field.
The Beavers improved to 5-4 overall and 4-1 in the NAC with a trip to Husson University on tap for Sunday at 1 p.m. The Terriers (4-8, 2-3) are scheduled to Saint Joseph's College on Maine Saturday at 1 p.m.
Barry, who had just substituted into the extra session, knocked in her game-winner off a cross from Samantha Webster (Dixfield, Maine) in transition.
After a quiet opening half (4-1 shots in favor of UMF), Thomas keeper Sofia Sourgiadakis (Littleton, N.H.) needed to snub Barry, Jessica Martin (Winthrop, Maine) and Kaleigh Chase (Wells, Maine) in the first five minutes of the second half. The Beavers outshot the visitors 14-7 and took 13 corners to the Terriers' four.
Thomas' best opportunity to score came in the overtime as an Ali Kriegel (Winslow, Maine) push following an UMF corner led to a pair of Alyssa Eugley (Sidney, Maine) shots, but UMF netminder Curran Brierley (East Hampton, N.Y.) turned back both bids to keep the game scoreless.
Brierley ended up with four saves for UMF.
Sourgiadakis stopped eight shots in the loss.
