FARMINGTON, Maine -- Chelsea Norton (Westbrook, ME) registered her second straight two-goal game to lead the University of Maine at Farmington women's soccer team to a 3-0 North Atlantic Conference win on Saturday at Prescott Field.
The Beavers ran their record to 5-3 overall and 3-0 in the North Atlantic Conference, while the Wildcats slipped to 4-4 and 2-2 in the NAC. UMF is scheduled to host conference foe Wheelock on Sunday at noon.
Norton -- who scored a pair of goals in a 3-0 win over UMaine-Presque Isle Wednesday -- gave UMF a 1-0 lead 10:29 into the contest on a breakaway off an Amanda Byrne pass. Amber Murphy (Manchester, NH) pushed the advantage to 2-0 on another breakaway marker at 34:06 and -- 47 seconds later -- Norton notched an unassisted score for the 3-0 final.
Kerry Kowalczyk (Topsham, ME) and Ashley Holshouser (Berwick, ME) shared netminding duties with neither needing to make a save. The Beavers outshot Bay Path -- playing a man-down after a red card at 30:56 -- 29-3 and carried a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Samantha Gunseth (Swanzey, NH) recorded 11 saves for the Wildcats.
